Speaking on the occasion of the end of the Shi’ite Muslim Ashura festival in Lebanon, Nasrallah congratulated terrorists in Gaza on their “first  victory” over the IDF. “The resistance, which lost a martyr, was able to fight efficiently… resistance movements in the region no longer depend on individuals,” Nasrallah praised the Gaza fighters, according to the Al-Manar website, affiliated with Hizbullah terror group. The comment, however, was a reference to the fact that Israel’s first move was to assassinate the head of the Izz a-Din al-Qasssam, a key figure in the military wing of Hamas — a significant achievment for the IDF and a painful blow to the terrorist organization.Source Arutz Sheva

Nasrallah in the above article is calling for Arab nations to fund and arm Gaza against Israel.  Now, of course this show’s the obvious, that they only sign cease fires or peace agreements in order to re-arm and gain strength.  but this really jumped out at me when reading this. 

Daniel 11:37-38  He will show no regard for the gods of his fathers or for the one desired by women, nor will he regard any god, but will exalt himself above them all.  Instead of them, he will honor a god of fortresses, a god unknown to his fathers he will honor with gold and silver, with precious stones and costly gifts….

The definition of Ashur from Readers Digest Illustrated Encyclopedic Dictionary:  The definition is 2 fold 1.  Town on the banks of the Tigris Rvier, in northern Irag.  It was the religious capital of Assyria in ancient times.  The town was destroyed byr the Babylonians in 614 BC.  2.  Also ASShur, ASSur, ASur,  The principal  deity and god of war and empire.

Sunni Islam

During the time of the Prophet Muhammad, local Jews observed a day of fasting at this time — their Day of Atonement. The Prophet Muhammad learned of of this tradition, and stated that the Muslims should also fast. He himself fasted for 2 days, and recommended that others do so as well. This fast is not required, simply recommended.

Shi’a Islam

After the death of the Prophet Muhammad, a schism developed within the community about who was to succeed him in leadership of the Muslim nation. This was the beginning of the historical split between Sunni and Shi’a Muslims (see the article “What’s the Difference Between Shi’a and Sunni Muslims?” for more details).

In the year 680 A.D., an event happened that was a turning point for what was to become the Shi’a Muslim community. Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, was brutally murdered during a battle against the ruling Caliph — on the 10th day of Muharram (‘Ashura). This took place in Karbala (modern-day Iraq), which is now an important pilgrimage site for Shi’a Muslims.

Shi’a Muslims observe the day in mourning for Hussein and in remembrance of his martyrdom. Reenactments and plays are performed, attempting to relive the tragedy and keep the lessons of this event alive. Some Shi’a Muslims beat and flog themselves in parades on this day, to express their grief and to reenact the pain that Hussein suffered.

Ok, this is the history of this day and why they remember it.  I find it absolutely amazing that they picked this as a festival day.  Ashur is a great war god of the assyrians, and also, I feel described by the prophets in the images for the endtimes beast.  Now this is not the only image portrayed by Daniel, but it’s included.

This is not a comprhensive study on these things, but something that the Holy Spirit gave me this morning as I was searching the news.  I have no doubt that the prophets saw exactly what is forming today!  As you trace the Spirit of Evil and Satan back through the centuries, you find a conglomurate mess of Bel, Baal, Ashura, molech, etc.  Satan takes the “Best of the Best” so to speak from all  past evils, so that he can deceive even the elect.  He has been a busy boy!  If you think the end-times beast is simple and from a union of current countries, I’m sorry but your mistaken.  I know it’s confusing, but Satan wants it that way.  How many are falling away and following some of these same false doctrines?  God bless you and may the Holy Spirit guide you in your quest for the truth.
