In between the story that the White House is angry at the Muslim Brotherhood Egyptian “President” it helped install for making remarks that Jews are descended from “apes and pigs,” and a story that Bill Clinton says wife Hillary has “Got time to have three more husbands,” was one that really made me stop and ask “What’s the world coming to? Notwithstanding that the occupant of the Oval Office knew in 2010 how the Muslim Brotherhood viewed Jews, and helped them takeover Egypt anyway. Notwithstanding that former President Clinton and his “wife” are somewhat known for their strange sexual tastes, and he can’t keep his mouth shut. But what of the healthy 45 year old deaf twins who were euthanized?

There, this “la-di-da, everything is wonderful” story by ABC News about two deaf Belgium twins being euthanized after “realizing they were going blind and would be unable to see each other ever again.” This was incredible. Here is an excerpt: “The men, who were born deaf, had a cup of coffee and said goodbye to other family members before walking into hospital room together to die.” Their doctor, David Dufour, said, “They were very happy. It was a relief to see the end of their suffering. They had a cup of coffee in the hall. It went well and a rich conversation. Then the separation from their parents and brother was very serene and beautiful…At the last there was a little wave of their hands and then they were gone.”

The story goes on to say that the brothers were unique because their illness was not terminal, but that Belgian law allows doctors to euthanize “suffering” patients who are mentally sound, over 18, and want to die. AMAZING. In my political consulting days, my partner and I worked on a campaign against similar legislation in Washington in 1991. We defeated it initially, but it was later passed in 2008. In states such as Washington, Montana and Oregon, the person wanting to die actually administers the lethal dose of medication in the presence or with assistance from the doctor. In Belgium, doctors are allowed to kill people outright. So we have legal killing of the preborn and legalized physician assisted suicide in the US.

The Bible says in Deuteronomy 30:19, “I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.” The Declaration of Independence says every citizen has the “right to life.” That is, every citizen except those who cannot speak for themselves such as the preborn. Or, in this country, every citizen who dare say that he/she will protect the rights of life and freedom with armed self defense. The hypocrisy of politicians to promote assisted suicide and abortion, yet wish to leave people defenseless against criminals and madmen. What will they do next, pass laws that assume gun buyers are mentally ill? Oh yeah, that was another story. What is the world coming to?
