Christians Should Unite As One Body


“The Holy Spirit is at work this morning.  He’s calling the Body of Christ to Unite.  Not to do physical battle but to perform a spiritual battle.  A lot of things come to mind while I was considering this post.  Like, ‘Mine eyes have seen the Glory of the Coming of the Lord, He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored.’  And  Ephesians chapter 6 ‘Put on the whole Armor of God.  For we wrestle not with flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.  Without the Armor of God, we’re powerless.  Christ said ‘On this rock I will build my church and the gates of Hell will not prevail.’  He wasn’t talking about a building, He wasn’t talking about a denomination, He was talking about the Holy Spirit who resides in each of us as followers of Christ.  The same Spirit that draws us close to His Father, so we may be as one as He and the Father are one.

Maybe, the letters to the 7 churchs in Revelation, were not speaking about 7 physical churchs, or 7 dispensations of church age, or maybe it was speaking of Christ’s ‘church’ on the 7 continents of this world.  Maybe Christ was telling us to shed the cloak of divisions, like denominations and unite under one cloak.  The cloak of Christ that He gave us with His blood on the cross.  This is not a one world religion.  It’s called the body of Christ.  Christ is coming again for His church, what will He find?  Will He find divisions like the early church?  Or will He find us in unity with one another, praying and seeking the same thing?  It’s not possible you say, because we can’t agree on doctrine.  It is possible, Paul tells us how it’s possible.

Ephesians 3:14

‘For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name.  I pray that out of His glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.  And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge-that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.  Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more that all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work withing us, to him be Glory in the church, and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.’

Paul goes on in chapter 4 to tell us ‘Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.  There is one body and one Spirit–just as you were called to one hope when you were called–one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.’ He said it was Christ who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.  Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind or teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming.  Christ is the Head of this Body.  From Him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love as each part does its work.’

Paul teaches  repeatedly about the body of Christ.  It’s time for us to unite, time for us to come together in love and prayer, time for us to put on our armor, time for us to take a stand and stand firm.  There are evil powers being unleashed on our world today, Christ gave us the tools to deal with this.  He overcame the world.  Granted we are not a part of this world anymore than Christ was, but we must keep the faith, keep the light, and keep the truth.  He is returning.  He wants to find us in unity when He returns.

What can we do?  We can start by praying for the body of Christ, that we might see what our mission is.  Even though we are one body, we are many parts, and each of us have a job to do.  Search your heart, search the scriptures, ask God to show you what your suppose to do.  Are you a watchman, a prophet, a teacher, an intercessor?  God will tell you.

I was reminded of this in a comment on another post about praying for our leaders and persecutors.  Thank you my friend for reminding me.  They said, no matter how far apart we are we should be united in prayer!  Words truly sent by the Holy Spirit.  So lets forget about divisions, and come together in prayer, in Christ’s name.  He’s Coming, He’s Close, Can you Feel Him?  There is power in Christ’s Blood, Power in Prayer, Demons tremble at the mention of His Name!  We can be the Body Of Christ.  Pray, Pray, Pray, for God to open eyes everywhere, and turn all  people to Him.

Revelation 22:20-21  “Yes, I am coming soon.”  ‘Amen.  Come, Lord Jesus.  The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people.  Amen.’
