By Billy Hallowell  A pregnant teenager in Houston, Texas, is suing her parents, claiming that they are trying to coerce her to have an abortion. The 16-year-old, who is reportedly two months pregnant, is being represented by the Texas Center for Defense of Life (TCDL), a pro-life legal organization. For now, the girl and her unborn child are protected by a temporary restraining order, but the battle is far from over.

According to KPRC-TV, the eight-page lawsuit (read it in its entirety here) lists purported allegations waged by the girl, who is identified only by the initials R.E.K, as she’s a minor. In addition to verbal abuse, the document claims that the girl’s mother suggested potentially slipping her daughter an abortion pill.

The teen also alleges that her father threatened to take her to have an abortion, saying that the decision was final — one that the teen would have no say in.

Additionally, according to the lawsuit, R.E.K.’s parents took her phone and car as punishment for not having the procedure and kept her home from school. The father of the baby and the paternal grandmother have also purportedly been harassed by the teen’s father, Fox News reports.

“We were asking judge to stop them physically forcing her to have an abortion. She is legally protected,” said Stephen Casey, vice president of TCDL and an attorney on the case. “They cannot drag her to get an abortion, force an abortion on our client.”

Another hearing on the matter is scheduled to take place on Friday.
