Christians Attack Libyan Embassy in Cairo After Coptic Man Dies

Cairo (DPA) — Dozens of Egyptian Christians attacked Monday the Libyan embassy in Cairo, in protest at the killing of a Coptic who died while in detention on charges of missionary activity.

Protesters took down the Libyan flag, burnt it and damaged the building, Al-Ahram newspaper reported.

Ezzat Hakim was one of several Coptic Egyptians held in Libya.

Protesters were demanding the release of the others.

In the past few months, Libyan authorities have arrested many Christians from different countries for the same charges. Some of them were released afterwards.
