The Cost Of Descipleship Dietrich Bonhoeffer

We can learn much from this Man.  Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a Lutheran Pastor who spoke out and went against Hitler.  He was arrested and hanged at a Nazi death camp, for his beliefs.  He was strong in his faith, and I read where one of the Dr.’s in the camp was moved by his faith and willingness to go to his death.  He refused to conform to a false religion, and he paid with his life, but he gained an eternity with the Lord.  May we learn and gain strength from his testimony.  You might find Christian persecution of WW2 strange, but that’s exactly what it was.  Christians who did not conform to Hitler’s vitriol, were prosecuted.  Christians who helped Jews were prosecuted.  Hitler removed all the crosses from churches and replaced them with his picture.

This video consists of excerpts I’ve taken from the book “The Cost of Discipleship” published in 1937 by Lutheran theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer. The accompanying music is the composition “Air” by 18th century composer Johann Sebastian Bach (who was himself a devoted Lutheran).
