April 24, 2013PAPUA, NGThe Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says there is no tsunami threat for Hawaii after a strong earthquake near Papua New Guinea. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the 6.5-magnitude quake struck at 1:21 p.m. (HST) just 19 miles north of the city, Rabaul. The PTWC says based on all available data, a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected and there is no tsunami threat to Hawaii. –Khon2
