Revelation 16:6  ‘The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and the sun was given power to scorch people with fire, they were seared by the intense heat and they cursed the name of God who had control over these plagues, but they refused to repent and glorify Him.’

Sunday's Highs

Warnings for extreme heat are posted into the weekend across parts of Arizona, California and Nevada as a large, hot dome of high pressure builds over the region.

Temperatures will soar well into the 110s and even 120s in the days ahead. One location could even approach 130 degrees!

Hot temperatures will also spread throughout the valleys of the Great Basin and Northwest, but not to the levels we will see in the Southwest.

120s Likely –

  • It’s a given that Death Valley, Calif. will bake in the 120s during this heat wave. In fact, each day well into next week will be in the 120s. It’s not out of the question that we could see a 130-degree reading Saturday-Monday, which hasn’t happened since July 1913.

120s Possible –

  • Bullhead City, Ariz., Blythe, Calif. and Palm Springs, Calif. are all forecast to approach or reach the low 120s Friday into this weekend.
  • Phoenix – Temperatures are expected to max out in the middle to upper 110s Friday through Sunday. It’s possible that we could see highs flirt with 120 degrees on Friday and Saturday. Phoenix has only been in the 120s three other times in history. In addition, no heat relief is expected during the overnight and early morning with lows only dropping into the low 90s through early next week.

All-Time Record in Vegas?

  • Highs could top out near 117 degrees in Las Vegas over the weekend. If this occurs, it would tie the all-time record high for any month of the year in Vegas. No significant heat relief is expected during the overnight and early morning hours with temperatures only falling to the low 90s this weekend into early next week.

Heat Not Just Confined to the Desert Southwest

  • Hot temperatures will also engulf the valleys of Southern California, the central valley of California, the Great Basin and the Northwest.
  • Los Angeles will see temperatures peak in the upper 80s and low 90s over the weekend. Locations slightly farther inland, including Burbank and Ontario, will be even hotter with triple digits expected.
  • Highs in the low 100s are expected in Salt Lake City, Utah, Reno, Nev., and Boise Idaho into early next week.
  • Widespread 100s are forecast in the central valley of California from Fresno to Sacramento andRedding.
  • Portland, Ore. will see upper 80s and 90s into early next week. Seattle, Wash. will rise into the 80s during this timeframe. Low 90s are possible by Monday or Tuesday.

  1. “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night;in the which the Heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all Holy conversation and Godliness, looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God,wherein the Heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?Nevertheless we,according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness”.(2 Peter3:10-13).We know who makes the weather…It’s not man.Blessings to those who choose righteousness for it will have great reward.
