(Earth Sky News) Awesome photos from around the world showing Perseid meteors – August’s shooting stars – streaking along in the night sky over the past few weeks.

The Perseid meteor shower has probably peaked (August 11-13, 2013), giving us many, many wonderful photos of Perseid meteors, posted by friends on EarthSky pages on Facebookand Google+. We wish we could post them all here! Thanks to all who posted. Enjoy!

Mike Lewinski said this Perseid fireball was so bright that it illuminated the clouds. Notice the greenish color. Mike was at Embudo, New Mexico. Thanks for posting!
