Strong Storm Hits New York City

(The Weather Channel) Parts of the New York City metro area were placed under severe thunderstorm warnings as a storm system moved through the Big Apple on Monday afternoon, dumping plenty of rainfall and producing some incredible images as dark clouds rolled overhead.

Before the storms unleashed sheets of rain, a few moments of nearly pitch-black skies gave NYC residents enough time to snap pictures of a rare strong thunderstorm, and we collected some of the best photos below.
