What?? France calls its version of the Lord’s Prayer blasphemous, changes it

(MSM) France has been using the same version of the Lord’s Prayer since 1966, but a number of the country’s Catholic bishops have suddenly decided, “Hey, that sounds kind of blasphemous.” (Yes, they’re calling their own translation of the Bible blasphemous.) Anyway, the line in question is their interpretation of “lead us not into temptation.” The existing version of that line translates to, “Do not submit us to temptation,” which the bishops worry could be interpreted “in a way that suggests God has the power to make people succumb to the temptation of sin,” according to Agence France-Presse. So after running this past the Vatican, they’ve changed the line to read “Let us not enter into temptation” instead.

My Comment:  Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ taught us how to pray.  This is not up for debate or interpretation!!!  You do not add to or take away from the words of the Bible.  This is another example of the 2 things that is confusing the Body of Christ:  Exegesis, and Politically correctness. Matthew 6:7-13

The Lord’s Prayer

But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

  1. Reblogged this on SWORD OF TRUTH and commented:
What did the King teach when He was here in the flesh? He taught us how to pray The LORD’S PRAYER, which takes care of every one of our needs. It should not be changed.

  2. This does not surprise me since their translation was wrong to begin with. Have they not been doing this for centuries? adding in what they want and taking away what they want? Changing dates and times? Woe unto them that change the WORD of the HOLIEST ONE!

    • Great point. I have seen more and more lately of changing of doctrine, and it’s disturbing. And your absolutely right. The Lord’s prayer, is how the Lord taught us to pray. How they think they can just change this to be politically correct is an abomination. Thanks for sharing.
