The People Of CAR Want Hope That They Will Not Be Abandoned

???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

This week Religious leaders from the CAR have been in Washington ‘asking the most powerful country in the world’ for help.  For hope for what they describe as a ‘Forgotten Conflict.’  It’s described as turning into a genocidal war.  They met with the President’s advisor’s and the UN.  “They came here together from a divided country.”  The Archbishop,The Reverand, and The Imam.  Ban Ki Moon is wanting a peace keeping mission of 12,000.  The Archbishops say’s that ‘Christians don’t kill.’  He quotes the commandment ‘Thou Shall Not Kill.’  They want hope for a hopeless situation.  They want hope for their people.  They want the suffering to end.  They want to forget the atrocities of what has transpired.  Thousands have been killed, in horrendous ways.  There is so much confusion there, as to where the rebel factions are getting their arms.  The questions have been asked who are they?  It was reported by France 24 last week that many of the Anti-Balaka (the supposed Christian rebel group) are ex-military.  And that some of the Seleka (muslim rebel group)  are actually Christians.  The Government of the CAR has said very little about any of this, they have said very little about the refugees, the rebels or how they will quell the violence.  Doctors without Borders are there providing medical care, and they are concerned about the vast population of muslim refugee’s.  In this video about the 7 minute mark they start talking about the CAR.  Right before there they do talk about the Sudan.  There is much suffering there also, thousands in refugee camps facing the rainy season and possibility of disease.  Remember these refugee camps are rife with rebels, kidnapping, and vicious treatment of Christians.

So regardless of what started this, regardless of who is behind the rebels, the people still suffer.  They still hurt, they still fear.  Christians fear the Muslims, and the Muslims fear the Christians.  This is a community that lived side by side for years without conflict.  In came the Seleka then the Anti-Balaka, and others and there was blood shed, but instead of dying down, it’s ramping up.  Pray for the people of the CAR.  Pray for peace, pray for comfort, pray for the religious leaders, pray for calm.
