We are asked as Christian’s to make a sacrifice unto the Lord, but the sacrifice it is no more of animal’s it is the sacrifice of ourselves. It is a covenant made between us and God and is a holy covenant which the wicked have no part of! “He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people. Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice. But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth? Seeing thou hatest instruction, and castest my words behind thee. When thou sawest a thief, then thou consentedst with him, and hast been partaker with adulterers. Thou givest thy mouth to evil, and thy tongue frameth deceit. Thou sittest and speakest against thy brother; thou slanderest thine own mother’s son. These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes”.(Psalm 50:4,5,16-21).
The sacrifice Christ is asking of us is to put away our sinful nature and serve him in all sincerity and truth. Just as he conquered death also was sin put out of the way by him and gave us salvation! “For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace”.(Romans 6:8-14).
With all that a person goes through God wants nothing more than those who are of a repentant heart and broken spirit which turns to him completely and he will once again restore. “For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones”.(Isaiah 57:15).
Christ came to the earth and made the perfect sacrifice when he offered up himself as the sacrificial Lamb of God! “But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, seperate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself. For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore”.(Hebrews 7:24-28). “For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself”.(Hebrews 9:26).

ladyinwaiting2012…………..I hear you that there are some passages that just touch our heart like no other and and as you say of Hebrews 9:26 how Jesus suffered from the foundation of the world makes me think of Roman’s 8:29,30 “For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified”. BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God Bless You Sister in Christ.
