Before we come to the knowledge of Christ we are considered to be set apart from the covenant’s and promises of God. We are without hope and without God in the world. It is through genuine repentance and turning to Christ that we become closer to God by the shed blood of Christ. “Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called uncircumcision by that which is called their circumcision in the flesh made by hands; That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ”.(Ephesians 2:11-13).
In the eyes of God blood is life, and even at one time the shed blood of animal’s was considered sacred, it is now the shed blood of Christ that brings redemption and cleanses us from all sin and all unrighteousness. “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us” (1 John 1:7-10).
It is the shed blood of Christ which has purchased his church through the Holy Spirit and is the household of God, all of which we as believers are a part of. Moses was of this church and house of God in the wilderness. “Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood”.(Acts 20:28). “For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God. And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after; But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end”.(Hebrews 3:4-6).
If we remain without faith then we would be unable to be partakers of the gift of eternal life, and the many blessing we could enjoy throughout our lives! It is vital to repent of all sin as flesh and blood cannot enter heaven and one must be born again of the Spirit that Christ promised he would send. Without the receiving of Christ’s teachings we would remain unsaved. “According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestined us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace”.(Ephesians 1:4-7).
