For the record books: Two hurricanes spinning

toward Hawaii

My Comment: What can anyone say other than prayers are needed for all who are in the line of these hurricanes headed for Hawaii. May the grace of God be over the people and through it all look to God for all help. Psalm 46:1.
(CNN) — Supermarket shelves swept bare. Schools, government offices, attractions shuttering. Sandbags filled. Ports closing.

Hawaiians look more than ready, as two hurricanes spin toward the Aloha State.

But, as hurricanes go, Iselle and Julio — both Category 1 storms — are not exactly Katrina and Ivan. And hurricane centers predict they’ll weaken, maybe not even making landfall as hurricanes.

2 rare tropical cyclones near Hawaii

Julio is tracking north, looking like it might not even touch Hawaii, when it passes over the weekend. And ahead of Iselle, scheduled for landfall late Thursday local time, only one island, the Big Island, is under a hurricane warning.

“Tropical storm conditions are expected on the Big Island of Hawaii Thursday, with hurricane conditions expected Thursday night,” the Pacific Hurricane Center advised. The storm had maximum sustained winds of 90 mph early Thursday and was 450 east southeast of the Big Island.

Otherwise, the islands of Lanai, Maui, Molokai and Oahu, where the capital Honolulu is located, are under tropical storm warnings and not in Iselle’s predicted direct path.

So rare

So, why are these storms for the record books?

A single hurricane in Hawaii is a rarity. The last hurricane warning for a Hawaiian Island was issued in 1993, CNN’s weather center reports. And, now, here come two, back-to-back. Read More.

  1. Drgold………………I hear you as you speak of the judgment of God falling over the land for homosexual agenda being passed. The weather has not been like years passed and is becoming more severe, as nahum 1:3 tells us he walks through the earth like a whirlwind, but he also knows those who trust in him. I am praying you and your family will be kept safe as through the years I have seen devastation to one place and yet right next to it nothing is touched and I pray this for you brother! “Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity”.(2 Timothy 2:19).God Bless You and Yours, and may God’s strong hand be over you.

  2. Hi Sis Julia

It has been about 8000 days since Hawaii was visited by a very powerful hurricane, namely HURRICANE INIKI back on 9/11/1992- about 22 years ago, with 175 mph winds and heavy rains, but mostly hitting the island of Kauai & West Oahu. It caused $1.8 billion in damages, and 6 lives. Today, it would be like $8 billion in losses.

From a spiritual/biblical standpoint, while God utterly destroyed Sodom & Gomorrah with fire & brimstone (see Genesis 19) for wickedness and homosexuality, wouldn’t He pour out His judgment upon SAME SEX MARRIAGE HAWAII, that was passed by our state legislature in Nov 2013, as introduced by SSM Hawaii Gov Abercrombie, despite the majority being against that? Hawaii became the 15th SSM state in the Union.

2014 is a very active Hurricane season in the Pacific Ocean due to a very strong El Nino warm water season. Also Hurricane season officially ends on Nov 30, so Hawaii may experience multiple hurricane threats in 2014 before the season is over. Coincidentally this morning, the exposed Hawaii Big Island experienced a relatively moderate earthquake of 4.5 that shook a TV reporter interviewing someone at the docks securing his boat.

Je23:19 states ‘Behold, A WHIRLWIND OF THE LORD is GONE FORTH IN FURY, even A GRIEVOUS WHIRLWIND: it shall fall grievously upon THE HEAD OF THE WICKED’.
