Following Our Convictions Or Spreading Hatred?

When I read this it caused me to cry out to the Lord.  As with the Westboro Baptist church who prides themselves in spreading a gospel of hatred, this is one and the same.  I doubt this man knew that the Baker in question here was Christian, which makes it all the more troubling.  I do not condone homsexuality.  With that said I don’t condone hatred either.  I agree with the author of the following.(Click the link for full article & video)

Baker Refuses to Bake Cake with “Anti-Gay” Message for Christian – Christian Sues:

The founder of a non-denominational Christian organization, Bill Jack, recently walked into a Denver bakery and requested that the owner bake him a cake shaped as a Bible with a message written on it that said “God hates Gays”. He also requested an image of two men holding hands with an “X” over the image.  via Baker Refuses to Bake Cake with “Anti-Gay” Message for Christian – Christian Sues – Eagle Rising.

It’s time to stop.  As Christian persecution rises in the world and in the West, is it really our priority to insist on equal rights  and to attack freedom in this manner.  This is what gives all of Christianity a bad name.  A video similar to this made headlines a few months ago showing a blogger calling known gay bakeries asking for similar cakes with similar messages like “God hates Gay’s.”  I understand the anger, the frustration while business after business is attacked and ruined for merely doing business that follows our religious convictions.  But really, are we commanded to spread hatred?  Does this sound like it?

Matthew 22:36-40

  • Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
  •  Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
  •  This is the first and great commandment.
  • And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
  •  On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Lastly remember Jesus told us we would be hated by all for His Name Sake.  Matthew 10:22  And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
