‘Hate is not for Humans’: Kenji Goto’s Powerful Message

(I Am Not Ashamed Of The Gospel Of Christ)  This is from the Far East Broadcasting Company’s Face Book page.  It goes on to quote a tweet Goto did from 2010:  September 7, 2010 Goto says, “Closing my eyes and holding still. It’s the end if I get mad or scream. It’s close to a prayer. Hate is not for humans. Judgment lies with God. That’s what I learned from my Arabic brothers and sisters.” The tweet has already been shared over 35,000 times at last count.  Our hearts and prayers are with Japan and the family of Kenji Goto, and the other man beheaded by ISIS,  Haruna Yukawa.  (More)

Kenji Goto, a Christian journalist who went to Syria to cover it’s civil war, was abducted by ISIS late last year, and in a new unauthenticated video posted by ISIS, he appears to have been beheaded.

A video posted by Goto before he went to Syria, shows him explaining that he knew the risks of going to Syria. Originally, Goto did not sense any danger to himself specifically as a Japanese citizen, a nation that has remained neutral and pacifist for some 70 years. via ‘Hate is not for Humans’: Kenji Goto’s Powerful Message – FEBC

“Goto converted to Christianity in 1997, and was a member of a United Church of Christ in Japan. He reported from war-torn countries around the world, especially in Africa and the Middle East, focusing on the life and humanity of the ordinary citizens in difficult times. His works include books and DVDs on blood diamonds and child soldiers in Sierra Leone, the Rwandan conflict and its survivors, a teenage mother in an Estonian “AIDS village”, and girls and education in Afghanistan.”

Goto leaves a wife and 3 children.  His mother made pleas to ISIS for his safe return, and was quoted in Japan Today  as saying this upon his death.  “Kenji has died, and my heart is broken. Facing such a tragic death, I’m just speechless,” Goto’s mother Junko Ishido told reporters. “I am too upset to find the words to express myself. My son’s last act was to go to Syria to help a fellow Japanese. So I want people to understand my son’s kindness and courage.”

Goto exhibited a love for humanity and looked into the face of evil, those who hate life and fellow man.  Japan has said they will never forgive ISIS for what they have done.  They have so far restrained from retaliation. (More)
