How many guns did JESUS wear?
Or, more accurately stated, how many swords did JESUS carry?
NONE.
How many swords did JESUS tell His+ Disciples to purchase ?
Luke 22:36-38
( Context: After the Last Supper and just before the Garden of Gethsemane)
36 Then said HE+ unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
37 For I+ say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in ME+, And HE+ was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning ME+ have an end.
38 And they said, LORD, behold, here are two swords. And HE+ said unto them, It is enough.
ENOUGH ? ! ?
Enough for WHAT ?
Anyone who knows anything about ancient warfare will know that two swords are NOT going to help if a gang of men attack at one time, even if they have only staves / clubs or even if they are unarmed. So two swords would have been of no value in a real fight against a mob of angry men.
WHAT did JESUS do with those swords?
NOTHING.
In the time of greatest extremity, WHAT did His+ Disciples do with the sword The LORD instructed them to purchase ? ( Context: in the garden of Gethsemane)
LUKE 22:49
When they which were about HIM+ saw what would follow, they said unto HIM+ , LORD, shall we smite with the sword?
And before HE+ could answer, what did the Disciple bearing the sword do ?
LUKE 22:50
And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.
What was The LORD’S response to using the sword against His+ enemies ?
LUKE 22:51
And JESUS answered and said, Suffer ye thus far ( Let it alone, stop this! ). And HE+ touched his ear, and healed him.
WHAT , then , did JESUS tell His+ Disciples to do with those swords ?
Matthew 26:52
Then said JESUS unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.
How many of the Twelve Apostles of JESUS used the sword after that incident?
NONE.
Anyone who cares to follow JESUS will be able to determine The LORD’S will for bearing arms for protection against an enemy.
The Scriptures in the New Testament are clear about loving one’s enemies and suffering for CHRIST.
Scriptures are CLEAR that our weapons are NOT like those of this world but are of another realm.
If we take satan’s bait and arm and conduct ourselves as the world does, we will die as the world does, and the martyrs’ crown will not be ours. This goes against everything we have been taught. The modern “churches” do not teach bearing the Cross and loving enemies. Thus we see professing Christians arming themselves to the teeth and preparing to “go down with bullets flying” … just like the world does.
How can that bring glory to MESSIAH YESHUA?
Historically, the Pre-Nicene Christians did NOT bear the sword or engage in warfare in any way. They would allow themselves to be killed before harming another human being, keeping before their eyes their LORD’S+ Words and walking in this short life as HE+ Walked.
It was not until after the council of Nicea that Christians were taught that they could or MUST fight with the sword to defend a now “Christian” nation, i.e. Rome!! Christians were taught that they could now fight non – Christians for “Rome’s sake” since it was now supposedly Christian, however untrue it was!
Then another 70 years passed and Christians were on the battlefields killing other professing Christians, just as is happening today!
Here is an interesting side note about the famous Nicene Council, which was populated by Christian elders and overseers with limbs cut off in the arenas of Rome, with eyes taken out by Rome, hands and feet cut off in Roman arenas, but who maintained a TOTAL Loyalty to The SON+ of GOD.
It was written in the records of that council that, “If one who is a Christian decides to join the military, that one is to be excommunicated because he has despised The LORD+.” Human life meant that much to the ancient Christians.
Today, many think that the Nicene Council was run by the “Roman Catholic” Church. However, bear in mind that this WAS NOT the Roman Catholic Church that we know of today.
The elders and presbyters from all of Christendom were present at the Nicene Council, including elders from “the Church at Rome” that we have the letter written to, in our Scriptures. It took many centuries for the Church at Rome to metamorphose into what we know today as the RCC. It does not even resemble the ancient Pre-Nicene Church. (No offense is meant to anyone by this statement.)
Both from Scripture and the history of the Church, we see that the ancient and original followers of MESSIAH did not bear the sword or join together to fight and kill enemies as others did and do. They lived and moved in the Power of the HOLY SPIRIT. There were times in the Roman arenas that even the wild beasts would not go near the Christians to harm them, but would turn on the Roman soldiers who drove them into the arena. At other times, the Christians would suffer for their LORD MESSIAH.
Having said this, I confess that I am not a naturally brave person and the NATURAL tendency is to oil up our guns and, unfortunately, behave like the Islamic murderers or the state-controlled Gestapo.
We must not do this!
We must seek the LORD+ and look to HIM+ for Guidance and for HIS+ Protection. We DO NOT want to bring shame to HIS+ most Holy Name by our actions.
There is a time to flee … and there is a time to suffer for HIS+ Name’s sake. I would NOT want to stand before The LORD+ having just gunned down ten or fifteen of my persecutors.
It is obvious that the government of the U.S. is NOT going to protect Christians from those who hate them. In fact it seems that Christians are in the national gun sights.
However, the national government of the U.S. is NOW in the LORD’S cross-hairs of Judgment and Wrath. If we wait upon The LORD+, we will be given Wisdom-to-flee to safety or Strength-to-stand and to Overcome by The Blood of The LAMB+ and by the Word of our Testimony.
Let us pray for strength and Wisdom from above for each other.
Pray for the Peace+ of Jerusalem. The Peace+ of Jerusalem comes from the Right Hand of the FATHER, WHO+ will come in Flaming Fire to take Vengeance, and HIS+ Holy Ones follow after HIM+.
The First Resurrection is nearer now than when we first believed / trusted in our LORD YESHUA MESSIAH, YHWH Adonai, Who+ became flesh for our sake and the sake of the Adamic race who choose to come to HIM+ for Life.
PRAYERS OF FIRE
PRAY WITHOUT CEASING.
STAND BACK FROM THE WORLD AND ITS WAYS.
EMBRACE THE CROSS OF A DISCIPLE OF YESHUA.
CULTIVATE HOLINESS IN THE FEAR OF GOD.
THIS WHOLE LIFE IS ALL ABOUT THE MOMENT WE DIE AND ENTER INTO HIS+ ETERNAL PRESENCE.

Well, I see that you’re making the point that “Spiritual Warfare” is the Christians’ MAIN type of WARFARE. And, this is certainly true. Eph.6:12! (And numerous other references).
But, As I grew up, (was born), JUST AT THE END of W.W.II, and, I am “seeing” the approach of the dark clouds of WW III, upon the horizon, I find that the Spirit is admonishing me to “Watch therefore”, and “be also ready”, so as to “…not have suffered his,(my), house to be broken up”.
And, while I am practicing my Spiritual Warfare, (PRAYING w/o CEASING,[I Ths.2:13, & 5:17], claiming the “power of the Keys of the Kingdom”,[Matt.16:19], and Trusting the Lord,[Prov.3:5 – 6], I am also, PRE-paring for the time when my faith MAY fail, and yet, I STILL must protect others…and thus, the Ecc.3:8 time arrives! But! I DO PRAY that that my FAITH never fails, and thus, that time NEVER arrives!

We are living in VERY fearful and frightening times, times of great evil and deception. Let us pray for all followers of YESHUAH+ that our faith does not fail. The world and its ways are behind us now, the CROSS is before us. There are some “surprises” coming for the workers of evil.

In relation to the Title, I believe, (to be in more Biblical & Historical context), a more appropriate question would be: “HOW MANY SWORDS DID YESHUAH SUGGEST THE DISCIPLES WEAR?” And, then, a thorough study of the LAST SUPPER, and the “GARDEN OF GETHSEMANE event” would help,…and then, to ask the Lord WHY He COMMANDED them EACH to “sell his garment, and buy one”, [a sword] — {Lk.22L36 – 37}; will also help answer those questions.
After spending 40+ Yrs. as a Field Missionary, I had NUMEROUS events that TAUGHT me that NOTHING Yeshuah said, was without significance FAR BEYOND the “simplicity of the Gospel”…and the “cutting off of Malchus’ ear” was only a small, (tho HIGHLY SIGNIFICANT), part of the EQUATION of “Why He commanded them to buy swords”.
Obviously, when He healed Malchus’ ear, that testimony reached the ears of the Sanhedrin, and was just one more hint from Yahwey, as to WHY they should NOT be judging HIS Son.
Unfortunately, in my study of the HISTORY of the “EKLESIA”, {“separated”, or “called out ones”}, the Lord has shown me that the Disciples were much as we are…men of weaknesses, and fallible. Thus, Yeshuah’s command was, (too often), misinterpreted, or misunderstood, and therefore, (over the mellinnia), more militancy was derived from that verse, than I believe, personally, should have been.
But, I also have seen that, Christians ARE responsible to protect the weak & innocent, even with martial means, if necessary. The KEY, of course, is the genuineness of the FAITH & OBEDIENCE of the Christian[s], involved. (Ecc.3:1 & 8).

Forty years as a field missionary ! Yes, that labor for The LORD has given you an experience serving YESHUAH+ on the battlefront, which is more than most of us could even dream of doing.
I understand your sentiments. Yes, Christians must defend the helpless ones, both spiritually and physically… and I do not say that lightly.
We call upon The LORD and we SHIELD the helpless from harm with our own bodies as we would our own loved ones, if necessary, taking the injury first with the hopes they would escape harm, as per the Will of The LORD+.
Do keep in mind: though we walk in the FLESH we do NOT WAR AFTER THE FLESH ! ( 2 Corinthians 10:3– The GREEK: “Indeed, walking in the flesh, not according to flesh do we wage war.” )
We see clearly in the NEW Covenant that all the Disciples and Followers of YESHUAH+ did exactly as The LORD+: they picked up their cross, died daily to themselves, and were martyred, at the appointed time, if it were the Will of The LORD+ to give them a martyr’s crown.
The pre – Nicene followers of YESHUAH did not bear the sword at all. The earliest ones, the first century, heard the Apostles teach what YESHUAH taught them. It is plain that the Apostles did not sell their garments a buy a sword. ( All of the Apostles were martyred except the Apostle John, whom the Romans tried to kill by boiling in oil, but the boiling oil had no effect, by the Power of the HOLY SPIRIT upon John.)
I do believe that the Apostles would have known if The MESSIAH+ had wanted them to buy and carry swords, since they spent forty days and nights with HIM+ After HIS+ Glorious Resurrection. The ancient pre – Nicene Ecclesia, was universally non – sword bearing, non resistant.
YESHUAH+ spoke some other words that somehow, most Christians do not lay to heart.
YESHUAH+ said: “ All authority is given unto ME+ in Heaven and in earth. “
Furthermore, If our hearts and lives are in line with His+ Word, HE+ grants power and authority in the SPIRIT to us.
HE+ said: “ Behold, I+ give unto you authority to tread on serpents ( ophion… sharp-eyed ones, like the “serpent” who beguiled Eve… not herpetons, snakes of the earth ) , and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you. “
HE+ also said: “ Notwithstanding in this rejoice not that the SPIRITS ARE SUBJECT UNTO YOU, but rather rejoice that your names are written in the Heavens.”
Thus, we should be able to TRUST that the weapons of our warfare are MORE MIGHTY than the sword or gun, shouldn’t we ?
“The weapons of OUR warfare are not carnal, but mighty through GOD to the pulling down of strongholds.”
Scripture indicates that THIS statement in verse 4 was to EXPLAIN WHY Christians do NOT war after the flesh: We have better weapons!
Christians are the ONLY ones on earth who have power with GOD to use these MIGHTY, UN-CARNAL weapons.
We do no injury to another person, but rather, pray against the wicked, demonic spirits which instigate the attack.
That is our NEW-BIRTHright.
Why do we revert back to the Old Man’s ways ?
YESHUAH said that ALL who take the sword, will die by the sword ( or gun ) Matthew 26:52, the Word of The LORD+.
As a man sows, so he will reap.
