My God I’ve Turned Into My Father!

My father is a retired Minister, he still preaches from time to time, and I guess you could call him a Fire and Brimstone preacher, and we butted heads way too often as I grew up.  But this morning I realized that I had turned into my Father.  We have family and friends who claim to be Christians, they belong to prominent denominations, denominations who require confirmation and church membership before you can partake in the precious communion offered by Jesus.  In fact we’ve been denied communion by these same denominations because they didn’t deem us worthy of Christs Body and Blood just because we didn’t join their church.  Don’t get me wrong, I love them.

Well let me tell you, and I know that I’m probably going to get hate mail but here goes.  These same people, think nothing of going to the local bars, and drinking until they can’t walk, and not only them but they laugh when their children do the same things.   If you go to church this Christmas season, and you take communion, and then attend all the celebrations where you drink to the point of drunkeness, that is a sin.  The taking of communion is very sacred, and you spit in God’s face by thinking that you can partake in this covenant, and not repent, or live in ways not pleasing to Christ.  Do you think Christ would be happy to see you taking his body and blood and then turn around and partake in worldly celebrations?  Especially when your living a high and mighty attitude of superiority?  You need to think before you take that communion again.

Do you really think that Jesus made this covenant for only a few superior people?  No it was for all!  And I don’t think he intended it to be for a 5 minute remembrance, and then you can go back to the world.  This should set us apart from the world!

Jesus said:  “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”  “This is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”   So then, when you hold that wine cup to your lips at all the worldly celebrations, do you think about the fact that Jesus said “This is my blood,  I won’t drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it anew with you in my Father’s Kingdom?”  Or do you just drink because it’s the social thing to do?

I’m not judging, but don’t judge me or anyone else, simply because they don’t belong to your church.  And above all, before you take communion search your heart and minds for the truth.
