Batman cinema gunman ‘shot youngest victim four times’

THE scale of James Holmes’ brutal Batman massacre is being detailed in court where it emerged he shot his six-year-old victim four times before she died.

Detective Todd Fredericksen has described the injuries inflicted by the former student in the mass shooting in a cinema theatre in Aurora, Colorado in July.

Little Veronica Moser was found dead with four bullets in her tiny body. Another of the 12 fatalities was shot nine times. One woman was shot in the face but survived.

Det Fredericksen will continue his harrowing evidence this morning. It also emerged Holmes bought his cinema ticket for Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises premiere 12 days before his attack.

The preliminary hearing is to establish if there is enough evidence for the case to go to trial and will last all week. His defence team are attempting to mount an insanity defence.

Holmes is said to have burst into a cinema on July 20 and opened fire during a screening of The Dark Knight Rises.

In addition to the 12 dead, 58 people were wounded.
