In the history of the Bible you can read many stories of how God spoke to the prophets.  One of my favorites is Isaiah.  His story is fascinating.  He answered the call of the Lord when He said: “Whom shall I send?  And who will go for us?”  Isaiah answered this call by saying:  “Here am I.  Send Me!”  Isaiah had just had a vision of God on the throne.  He saw the seraphs, they had 6 wings, 2 of which covered their faces, 2 covered their feet, and with the remaining 2 they flew.  They were calling to each other with ‘Holy , Holy, Holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of His Glory.” Their voices were so powerful it shook the building and filled the temple with smoke.  Isaiah immediately cried that he was a sinful man, that sin had touched his lips and he lived among the sinful.  Then a seraphs took a burning coal and touched Isaiah’s lips and said, there your sin has been taken away and intoned for.  Now God doesn’t speak to us exactly like He spoke to Isaiah, although many have dreams and visions along with their calling.  The plans have been laid, the prophets instructed, and now He is again calling His people.

Now with the prophets, God had a specific purpose in mind.  Usually they were to carry warnings to God’s people.  As it was in Isaiah’s commision, and others.  Samuel was called to anoint, he was prophet, priest, and judge.

We may not hear an audible voice of the Lord, as we speak to one another, and yet some have.  But most hear that small still inner voice.  The Holy Spirit speaks to us in this manner.  Not all are called to serve as Isaiah, Samuel, Ezekial, Elija, and the others but God is calling His people to turn back to Him and watch and warn.  God is calling His people back to Him to stand firm in the faith, and not bow to idols.  You know idol’s come in many forms.  One of the biggest idol’s in the Bible if you really look, is government.  Look at Babylon, look at Rome, look at Egypt with Pharaoh.  If you really look at the history of this, you can see every government in history, including recent history, wanting it’s people to bow to them.  All the kings, even Hitler, and Mao, Stalin, and even today.  If you don’t see that than you should pray for God to open your eyes.

God called me, by my name.  I heard this audibly.  It woke me from sleep.  I said what?  But it was some time before I found out what He wanted me to do.  Sometimes He might just want to know that you hear Him, and would ask what it was that He wanted.  In my case, He warned me that He was coming soon, this happened over a period of months.  Then He said it was time for me to warn people of what was coming.  He said “my family”, so at first I thought he meant my immediate family.  But I found out after writing a few letters to my family that was not exactly what he meant.  So I started the blog.

If you are hearing the call of God, whether it be a still small stirring in your spirit, a still small urge or voice in your heart, or just the Holy Spirit surrounding you, I urge you to spend some quality time with Him.  Take your time.  Remember God’s time and purposes aren’t ours.  They are His.  He is the creator of all things, time included.  He just may want you to learn to recognize His voice.  He has a purpose for you!  You can take that to the bank!  He will tell you and reveal all things in time.

There is one thing I know for sure, and that is Jesus Is Calling, Tenderly Calling For You and For Me!  Answer Him!  While your waiting, don’t be afraid, take a stand, stand firm and put on the full armor of God.(Ephesians 6:10-18)  He will be with you every step of the way.  Come join those who have hearkened the call, and taking a stand!  You will be rewarded with eternal life with our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.
