Two days after the collapse of an eight-story textile factory in Bangladesh killed and buried hundreds of workers under its ruins, mass protests broke out in Dhaka on April 26. Hundreds of thousands of garment workers demonstrated against their dismal working conditions. The incident has stirred a heated debate about the lack of safety in many factories in the developing world and put international retailers relying on low-wage production in these countries under scrutiny.
