As we were listening to the Hagmann & Hagmann Show, with Steve Quayle and Pastor Lankford, as they were discussing prophecy and the great falling away.  It reminded me of how many Christians are asleep.  When we try to witness, and warn, people actually will fall asleep!  I’m not joking.  It’s actually happened.  Then you have the ‘zombie’ appearance with the deer in the headlight look, then there’s the ones who actually deny that anything is wrong, in the country or the world.  And while we were talking about this strange phenomenom, it hit me.  After the Lord’s supper, right before His arrest, he and the disciples went to the Garden of Gethsemane so that Jesus could pray.  (Mt. 26)  Jesus said to them ‘Sit here while I go over there and pray.’  He also said ‘My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death, stay here and keep watch with me.’  He didn’t say watch for soldiers and protect me, He said Watch With Me.  Jesus warned all through the New Testament that if we didn’t WATCH He would come on us like a thief in the night.   Jesus returned to the disciples and found them sleeping!

 He said ‘Could you men not keep watch with me for one hour?’  Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.  The spirit is willing but the body is weak.’  He returned to pray, and when he returned to the disciples, he found them sleeping AGAIN!  He said ‘Are you still sleeping and resting?  Look, the hour is near, and the Son Of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.  Rise, let us go!  Here comes my betrayer.’

I thought about this a minute and prayed about it, and it hit me, this applies to the state of the church and the Christians of today that are sleeping.  They have been warned, not to sleep or Jesus would return like a thief in the night.  They have been warned to watch and warn.  The fact is if Jesus hadn’t woke them, they most likely would have slept through His arrest.    Well these last words that Jesus spoke to His disciples ‘Are you still sleeping and resting?  Look the hour is near.’  Are words for us today also.  Will we watch with Jesus?  Or will we sleep?  Jesus is our way to the Father, he’s our intercessor so to speak, do you think He’s just sitting on the throne, twiddling his thumbs waiting for the Father to say ‘Go get your bride?’  No, he’s in prayer for His Bride.  That’s obvious in Revelation in His letters to the Church.  He’s saying ‘Are you still sleeping?  Pray that you won’t fall into temptation, the hour is near.’  

Jesus said His soul was overwhelmed with sorrow, and God sent angels to minister to Him.   His soul is  full of sorrow today as He looks down on the state of the world, and His church.  He see’s all, He know’s about the Abortions, He know’s about the condoning of and celebrating homosexual behavior.  He know’s the persecution His people are enduring, He see’s the silence of the church while this takes place.  He see’s the fact that we have said HA!  You destroyed our tower, we built it better and stronger!  Instead of repenting to Him.  I could go on and on, but you get the idea.  Jesus is grieving, for His people.  What will He find when He returns, will He find all Christians, watching and waiting, and praying with Him?  Think long and hard on this.  He say’s ‘Behold I am coming soon!’
