Updated amnesty bill would require completion of border fence … unless Janet ‘border is already secure’ Napolitano doesn’t think it’s necessary

Michelle Malkin

Loophole-mania continues:

The new version of the bill was introduced via a so-called “border surge” amendment from Sens. Bob Corker (R-TN) and John Hoeven (R-ND), with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid repackaging the whole bill into the amendment.

On page 35, line 24 of the new bill, a provision was inserted that says Napolitano — who already believes the border is secure — can decide against building a fence if she chooses not to erect one:

Notwithstanding paragraph (1), nothing in this subsection shall require the Secretary to install fencing, or infrastructure that directly results from the installation of such fencing, in a particular location along the Southern border, if the Secretary determines that the use or placement of such resources is not the most appropriate means to achieve and maintain effective control over the Southern border at such location.

We’re not certain if this particular update was among the write-in changes.

J-Nap flashback: The border is as secure as it’s ever been, and besides, you’re never going to fully seal it anyway:

Of course the border is secure — that’s why we’re having a debate about what to do about the millions and millions of people who are in the country illegally.

  1. Jesus said to respect certain laws form authorities, and while that means we don’t have to accept homo “marriage” or anything that is not for our good, having a protection from illegals who do crimes and rapes is good.If they want to come legally that’s fine, but if they choose to not respect laws and come illegaly, why should people accept that behaviour?

  2. I just wanted to interject that I am not comfortable with all the immigrant bashing, whether they are in this country legally or not. I believe Jesus would not approve of a fence, after moving upon politicians a few decades ago to tear down the Berlin wall. WWJD?

    • Thank you Daryl, I do appreciate your comments, I am not comfortable with bashing imigrants, but this administration has handled the security of our borders badly. They increase the security with a friendly neighbor Canada, while opening the border to Mexico where drug violence abounds, Al-queda has been crossing the southern border regularly and other terrorists also. The Berlin wall was made to keep people in an oppresive situation. It was great when that came down. People could not visit relatives or cross openly or escape oppression. Mexico has enjoyed a freedom of travel with visa’s and green cards, unlike the Berlin Wall. I do appreciate your point, and yes we need to love our neighbors. God bless you.

    • Daryl….To say whether these people are here legally or not……..If someone is doing something NOT LEGAL we as christian are not suppose to be supporting wrong behavior! Sure we Love all people, but there are laws in place for our protection and to not act upon removing those who choose to live opposite what’s right would be to say Jesus never overcame evil……He did’nt overturn the money changers in the temple……or he did’nt call them what they were…….Hypocrites….Whited Sepulchres…….Generation of Vipers. This all sounds harsh, but it is the will of God we are to carry out here! Evil practices will not be what’s set in the earth to reign with Jesus, but Righteousness will which God’s people stand for.God Bless You.

      • yes, there are rules that must be respected and there are many illegals who cross borders to rape kids,to do crimes, sell drugs, take citizens jobs, get on welfare, etc. I don’t bash mexicans but most of them are just moochers.

      • Agree to disagree. Do good to them that dispitefully use you. The Gospel of Christ is the power of God to ALL who believe. Not just Americans.

      • I’m not Julia, but I agree with you Daryl, sometimes we just have to say we have differing viewpoints. The Gospel of Christ is one of love and love your enemies. That is something that I personally ask for guidance on. I don’t have a problem with immigrants, this country was built by immigrants, legal immigrants, but I do have a problem with Socialists and liberals using them to fit their agenda, and that is to bring down the economy of the US. I could site numerous facts but I won’t, and they are using this to advance their agendas. The bill in front of congress is in no way helpful to immigrants or nationals. And I do think that the American people should know what is happening at the border. It’s not just a theory, thousands of Al-queda, and other named and known terrorist groups are entering through the southern border. I think it is important, even ancient Israel had watchmen placed on their ‘walls’ to warn of impending disaster. And as a watchman, that is what I am doing. I didn’t write the aritcle but I agree with it. I can’t go to the store without providing ID, you can’t drive without providing ID, and the last time I went to the election booth, I had to provide ID, many want to live here, without rules, and can you imagine a society without rules? I’ve worked in the past with many illegal immigrants, and they were great people. But I still can’t see anything wrong with providing documentation of who you are, or is that just for American Nationals? This will be my last response to this but a healthy discussion is what makes us grow. Again, I thank you, and pray for knowledge, wisdom and guidance for us all. Jesus said ‘Love your enemies’ and he said what is it if you love those who love you? That’s easy, he also said if your enemy is hungry or thirsty give him water or food, which is my attitude also, I just think the government is misusing it’s power, and hoping that we won’t notice.
