A Prayer For The Fallen Firefighters & The Firefighters Prayer (video)

Heroes: A group photograph shows members of the Prescott Granite Mountain Hotshots

Father, we ask you for your comfort.  A town, A state, A Nation mourns today for these heroes who risk their lives for our safety.  Father we know that you were with them.  We ask you now to please put the families of these brave firefighters into your arms, and ease their sorrow and pain.  Father give us courage, strength and comfort to face the sorrow this tragedy has brought us.  Take these brave souls into your hands.  In Jesus Name we pray Amen.

The Firefighter’s Prayer – Dick B. Morton (Original Song)

Uploaded on Jan 20, 2011

A video I put together using my dads song “The firefighter’s prayer”.
He wrote it in August, 1998. Inspired by and dedicated to the Potchefstroom Fire Brigade in the north west province of South Africa, and, of course, to firemen everywhere.

The firefighter’s prayer
——————————
As we stand before the flames, that ravage and destroy
Be our strength, so we can do the best we can
Let us help, protect and serve, as this is what we chose to do
No challenge is too great, if we’re with you
—-
Hear our prayer, oh Lord, and show us, what to do
Let us feel you near, in each and every way
Let us feel you there beside us, to protect us, and to guide us
To help us make it through another day
—-
When the fires are all put out, and the smoke has disappeared
We’ll give thanks for another battle, fought and won
And if it be your will, that I lay down my life
Please hold your hand over my family and my wife
—-
There’s not a fire in this world, can match the fire in our heart
There’s not a life that stands in danger, where we will not play our part
There’s not a price we won’t pay, to see our duty through
And we leave the rest, oh Lord, up to you
—-
Hear our prayer, oh Lord, and show us, what to do
Let us feel you near, in each and every way
Let us feel you there beside us, to protect us, and to guide us
To help us make it through another day

  1. ~ these men have united the nations ~ when tragedy occurs people look to eachother not to material things~God bless their families and comfort them forever~

    Thy will is like
    a rose in summer

    It blooms into something
    beauteous to see

    If we will but give
    our will to yours

    We too will bloom
    to purity~
