It is time to put an end to what people say is speaking in tongues and then go on to speak Gibberish!
There are those who are speaking word’s inaudible at times and call it a language from God. IS THIS FROM GOD?
When we search the word,God plainly answers any questions we have as Believers. The gift of tongues is no different than when Jesus spoke in parables, and the disciples would then ask what did that mean? He did’nt speak in an unknown gibberish, but the disciples heard his words then asked for an explanation of which then Jesus would explain in their own language. “And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable. And he said unto them,Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand;lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them”.(Mark4:10-12).
And what is this mystery he’s speaking of? “Even the mystery which has been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; WHICH IS CHRIST IN YOU,THE HOPE OF GLORY: Whom we preach (NOT IN GIBBERISH),warning every man,and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus”.(Colossians 1:26-28).
THE BARBARIAN……………Lacking Wisdom,Unlearned,Alien,Inferior.
We need to look at the meaning of this word Barbarian and know that none of the meanings described above are of someone who knows God’s knowledge. The gibberish people speak and say it is from God need to be aware when being a servant of Christ the word’s they speak are FOUND IN SCRIPTURE!,,just as Jesus would speak his Fathers words to explain his meaning.
When the Holy Spirit gives knowledge of God to the believer it is of their own language spoken to feed many as seen here: “And there appeared unto them cloven tongues (seperate language),as the Spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak IN HIS OWN LANGUAGE.And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galileans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?”(Acts 2:3-8).
Ever been all fired up about the Lord and with a group of people that look at you like deer in headlights? There’s nothing wrong with that, because God’s Spirit seperates and you are no longer of the world’s ways and if you were asked for meaning of what you just spoke you would BE ABLE TO SHOW ANSWER IN SCRIPTURE!
Not go to a book of gibberish seperate from the bible that is probably out there in print somewhere saying it’s the language of God………NO! The only language of God is The Holy Written Word called the Bible.
“How can the body of Christ be edified if you can’t understand Gibberish? “Else when thou shalt bless with the Spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what you sayest? For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified.I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all. Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, THAN TEN THOUSAND WORDS IN AN UNKNOWN TONGUE”.(1 Corinthians 14:16-19).
Is this Gibberish some are speaking of God?
No,because when one opens the bible the words you read you understand, because your reading it in your own language. If you speak english you purchase an english written bible….If you speak spanish then you purchase a spanish written bible and I suppose if you can find the BOOK OF GIBBERISH you can purchase that as well, but know it is Not The Word Of God.
A True Servant Of God Speaks Only God’s Words To Edify The Body Of Christ. “And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine”.(John 10:5,14).

Artbella ……..Very well said! the comparison of God dividing the Languages(confounding them) when Nimrod built the tower of Babel……………and then God gathers through his Holy Spirit a Language of unity as told in Acts 2.He seperates and gathers.BEAUTIFUL! God Bless You Sister.

Julia, I agree with you and also with “thenakedtruth2”. Speaking in tongues simply means speaking in languages, and NOT moving your tongue uncontrollably to produce unarticulated sounds. People of the world once spoke one same language and through their disobedience were punished to not understand each other anymore, BUT through the Holy Spirit and when proclaiming the Word of God, which UNITES them, they understand each other even though they are speaking different languages/tongues.
God is not complicated, He is crystal clear, we just have to listen and we will understand.

Great post Julia. I can’t add much. You’ve covered it well. Paul does extensive teaching on this in 1st Corinthians 13 & 14. I have seen many who think they pray or speak in tongues. They click their tongue or utter guttural sounds or words that make no sense and they do this, in succession waiting for the Holy Spirit. They say this is talking to God. I’ve asked many who do this, how do you know you are talking to God and not Satan, since you can’t understand anything? They just don’t know. Be careful how you speak, Paul say’s if you are speaking in tongues and a sinner enters your church, he won’t understand and think you all fools. And he will leave still lost. (I paraphrased) There are many gifts, that will edify us, this is not one of them. One of the greatest misconceptions of Christians is the day of Pentecost, when the Spirit descended upon the desciples. They didn’t speak in unknown languages or tongues like some describe. They each spoke a different language so that the whole crowd understood their message in their own language, and many were saved. Blessings to you, and everyone seeking the Holy Spirit.

nakedtruth2…………I agree with your comment that one of a certain language was able to understand in his own language (Canadian and chinese)and was duly impressed! Great insight for that was the whole meaning of Acts 2.WOW you got it in your interpretation of the car sales man! RIGHT ON…………I love you mentioned James 3:17 “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy”.
So TRUE! No partiality(God’s is not a respecter of persons) his gifts are for all.Thank You so much for this comment.God Bless You.

Daryl…………I’m happy to hear I have evangelical zeal for this is true! and as a servant of Christ cannot sit mute if people who are claiming to be speaking the Holy Word Of God teach opposite and put his name on it.
satan is the god of this world and has many deceived and this gibberish which is NOT IN THE BIBLE will not pass with God,because they are not his words.satan has lying signs and wonders, but God’s words are understood when they are HIS WORDS SPOKEN(God does not speak and you can’t find the words in his bible). “Even him, whose coming is after the working of satan with all power and signs and lying wonders. And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion that they should believe a lie”.(2 Thessalonians 2:9-11).
It surprises me how you say that this is just a notion I have and we should not concern ourselves if others convert to the truth, because being a Christian is the whole purpose of being called to tell people the truth of the word so they convert & are saved. “Brethren,if any of you do err from the truth, and one CONVERT him; Let him know, that he which CONVERTETH the sinner from the error of his way, shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins”.(James 5:19,20). Jesus told Peter when he was CONVERTED to strengthen his brethren.(Luke 22:32).
I’m just curious have you ever heard these people “speaking in tongues”? They are not words from God’s bible or they would say oh I’m speaking german right now and I’ll show you it in your language…NO instead they just claim it’s a gift just for them from God.REALLY…This would eliminate the passages that say God is not a respecter of persons. There is no favortism or division which these Gibberish speaking people do.
You say this is a complex issue….There’s nothing complex when people claim they are speaking God’s truth and it’s NOT FOUND IN HIS BIBLE.Thank You for your comment and I pray God Blesses You.

Simply put, the ‘gift’ was the ability to speak a language having never learned. So a man from China met a man from Canada who spoke Chinese proclaiming the gospel, and the Asian was duly impressed with the spirit of God.
There was no self being promoted; there was no gibberish (shambalmalaka etc….) and God was glorified. I knew a man who allegedly ‘prayed in tongues’ at his desk in an auto business that the customer would ‘hear from God’ and then buy the car!!!!!!!!!!!! Such nonsense and an embarrassment to a spiritual mind-
This was the essence of the context you cited from Acts 2, and the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, a clue as to all dealings in the things of God. Trouble is, the carnal man wants to ‘be somebody,’ and be ‘noticed,’ but scaring people is no way to be noticed.

Julia, your points may be well-taken and well-intended, but may I kindly suggest that we all take Gamaliel’s advice here? I do not mead this as a criticism of your piece, I just think that we should all worry less about whether others conform to our notion of Christianity and avoid the possibility (however remote) that we may be fighting against God. None of us have a lock on the truth and some of the people you would like to muffle or shut down are showing fruit of the Spirit.
I realize that this is a complex issue, but if there is fruit there, perhaps we should turn our evangelical zeal toward someone else….just sayin’! That being said, I want to proclaim my appreciation for your blog and all who contribute. I guess we were bound to differ at some point on something.
