Mom Upset After Daughter Was Told She Can’t Write About God

My comment:  We have pushed God so far out of our lives that this is acceptable.  God bless this child and her parents.  It’s time for the church to speak out.  I wonder what would happen if Christians started taking their cases of religious persecution to the ACLU.  Or started lawsuits like the atheists, and other religions.  Lets make some noise.  If we don’t stand up for our rights, we will find ourselves hiding in basements like other countries.  This is not hyperbole, this is fact.

A Tennessee mom feels upset after her daughter wasn’t allowed to write about God for a school assignment.

Erca Shead says her daughter Erin was told she couldn’t write about God as her idol and had to choose another idol for the assignment, according to WREG.

Erin, 10-year-old, a student at Lucy Elementary in Memphis, was assigned to write about someone who she idolized, Fox News’ Todd Starnes wrote. Erin decided to write about God.

“I look up to God, because he put me on this earth. He is the reason I am on the earth,” Erin wrote on her paper. “I love him and Jesus, and Jesus is His earthly son. I also love Jesus.”

“God will always be the #1 person I look up to,” Erin also said.

“It was so cute and innocent. She talked about how God created the earth and how she’s doing the best she can,” Shead told WREG.

“But my teacher said I couldn’t write about God. She said It has something to do with God and God can’t be my idol,” said Shead as what her daughter told her.

Her daughter couldn’t really do anything, so she gave way. Erin chose Michael Jackson as an idol and that was accepted.

Shead was confused about “how can you tell this baby, that’s a Christian, what she can say and what she can’t say?”

The upset mother went to the principal of the school with her concerns Wednesday asking to be showed in the policy where it states her daughter can’t discuss God on paper, According to CBS Charlotte.

“Can you show me this in a policy where this child cannot talk about God on paper,” asked Shead.

A school spokesman said teachers can’t promote religion, but there is not a policy preventing students from writing assignments about any God or religion.

“School officials wouldn’t say what would be done to correct the situation, since it appears the teacher was in the wrong,” commented WREG.

Shead told WREG she is waiting to hear from the principal.

“I told the principal this morning, ‘Would it be better if she wrote about Ellen Degeneres?’ Of course there was no comment.”

God who? HE will make Himself known to a nation who turns their back on Him. God is Sovereign, Holy and is to be worshipped! Yes, the God I speak is the Father of Jesus Christ! Amen

If students of the Islam faith can (assuming this is occurring; to be fair and balanced; lest I be called a …..) are being released on Friday’s for prayer from 12 – 3 P.M.; then this student in Memphis, TN has the freedom to write about our God and Jesus Christ! If they want to get down and dirty, I’m onboard! I’m past sick of tolerance, favoritism, evil being called good in America!
Bloggers, Attention! Blog on these incidents and REBLOG–help the voices be heard!

    • Amen sister! And I’ve seen a lot of the releasing of muslim students for prayers. Many schools have prayer rooms. We have prayer rooms for them in the Capitol of the United States! But our children can’t talk about God, and we can’t mention Jesus name in prayer in public, and God forbid we pray at graduations or football games. Keep spreading the truth!
