Did The Pope Really Say The Church Should Stop Obsessing Over Gays, Abortion? Is This What Christ Taught?

According to Bloomberg News, (Read Here)  the Pope said this:

Pope Francis said the Catholic Church shouldn’t be “obsessed” with preaching about abortion, gay marriage and contraception and should instead try to reach out to a broader congregation.

A person interviewed for the article said that ‘Those of us who have any brains, us modern Catholics will welcome this message.’

Again we see a falling away from God’s word, did the Apostles say lets not preach so much about sin?  Let’s not offend anyone?  They gave their lives for Christ.  What if the Apostles would have said, us modern followers of Christ need to concentrate on Love and not on sin?  1 John 3:4-6 ‘Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.  And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin.  Whoever abides in Him does not sin.  Whoever sins has neither seen him or Known Him.’  John speaks of loving one another in this chapter, but he also speaks of sin.  Jesus told us to ‘Love one another as ourselves.’  But he also told the woman about to be stoned for adultery ‘Go and sin no more.’  He didn’t say come we won’t call out sin anymore we’ll just love everybody.   Paul warned us about a falling away in the last day’s and we’re witnessing it.  I am not bashing any denomination, but when a Minister or Man Of God, teaches a doctrine that does not follow the doctrine given us by Christ and the Apostles, but follows his own, it’s wrong.  When you want to sweep sins such as murder, and sodomy under the rug and not bring it into the light, or warn about it, because it’s not popular for modern Christians,  than that is wrong. Peter teaches in 2 Peter 2:18-21  ‘For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who have actually escaped from those who live in error.  While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption, for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage.  For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning.  For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the Holy Commandment, delivered to them.’ Use discernment when listening to any who professes to speak for God.  Search out the scriptures, become a modern day ‘Berean’.  Proverbs 15:14  ‘The discerning heart seeks knowledge, but the mouth of a fool feeds on folly.’  Jesus tells us in Matthew 7:7  ‘Ask and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.’  He is speaking here about more than physical needs.  The Lord’s Prayer say’s ‘Give us this day our daily bread.’  This is more than just bread.  Jesus is the bread of life!  Search him out, knock and it shall be given.  When you seek Him with all your heart and soul, you will receive.  And remember as The Body of Christ  our way will not be a popular one, it will not be the world’s way.  Jesus said:  ‘Enter by the narrow gate, for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. ‘  We are not in a popularity contest!  We are not in a competition to see who can get the most followers!  We are not in this to make money!  So distance yourselves from false prophets and teachers, and seek Christ.

Find Him while He is still here.

  1. Could he be the one spoken of in Rev 13:11? “Then I saw another beast rising out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb and it spoke like a dragon.”

Your long commentary was right on!

I am not surprised by Pope Francis’ new morality. After just six months in office, he has revealed his true colors & his wrong theology. It is anti-God, anti-Bible, & anti-Christ!

Francis is taking his place as a false shepherd leading his flock into perdition, advocating them to do what is right in their own eyes- namely follow their own conscience. But Jesus said ‘Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish’ Lk13:5.

  3. If the “moral edifice of the Church” isn’t based on God’s Word (and it isn’t) then yes it will fall like “like [the] house of cards” it is. But in trying to “rebrand” the Catholic Church toward making it “universal” to all morally relative “values”, his success is loss of Catholics everywhere. This is why I left the Church and found my Christian faith outside of this behemoth of politics, money and, sadly, pederasty. In 2000, during hte Catholic Church’s “Renew 2000” campaign, I read how small parishioner devotional sessions should have a bible along with candles for the “atmosphere of piety” I almost lost my breakfast; the parish priest rebuked me basically for “questioning authority” and that was the catalyst for leaving that godless church organziation. My great grandfather in Italy was conned on his death bed by two priests who exploited his fear (and probably his broad sense of guilt, as priests do so well) to bequeath the Church hundreds of acres of prime Avellino Valley olive fields, hillsides and plains near Naples; I didn’t leave the Church for this common occurrence of fraud, theft, mistrust of faith and abuse (financial, not only sexual against innocents). What sickened me most in this Argentine Papal moral dissembler’s statement was the statement the Church is at risk of “losing the freshness and fragrance of the Gospel” as if the Word of God (and especially the message of the Cross) were some kind of superficial accessory, a scent like lighted incense or perfumed candle.

The Apostle Paul and the rest of the Apostles aren’t spinning in their graves, however… they’re in Heaven watching in disgust the spiritual deprivation of the Catholic Church (and the sinful world it deceives and disillusions) just as we do down here on unstable Earth.

  5. Reblogged this on NoWorksSalvationApocalypseNow and commented:
Amen, I have been pondering this same point today. We are at the point where just standing on and quoting scripture qualifies you for the insane asylum. People will not accept sound doctrine. There may be a coming magnetic pole flip but it already appears to me that there has occurred a “Truth” flip where people can’t distinguish the truth from lies. I am addressing the church first with regards to my comments and then the world second. I for one am going to stand with Christ and not try to be politically correct with the devil.

  7. I heard this in the news last night. I agree that we need to love people, but loving them and telling them lies won’t save them. Loving them and telling the truth WILL! Thank you for standing up for THE TRUTH!
