SCEPTRE: Royal Authority, Freedom From Outward  Control, Sovereignty, Supreme
Excellence, An Acknowledged Leader, Independent,  The Most Exalted.
When we read the above  definition of the word sceptre which is a word we seldom use, really describes  Our Lord Jesus Christ for he is the sceptre of Israel! “The sceptre shall not  depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and  unto him shall the gathering of the people be”.(Genesis 49:10).
Jesus stands for the all  encompassing rule of authority,in his day and now through the Holy Spirit even  after his death to strengthen the Believers life and therefore his presence  still fills the earth through his people.A people God promised to him. “My  Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck  them out of my Father’s hand.I and my Father are one”.(John  10:29,30).
It is written God spoke through  his prophets in times past, and in these last days speaks to us by his Son which  even angels worship. He is the sceptre of Righteousness for our time. “God, who  at sundry (different) times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the  fathers by the prophets. Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom  he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds. For unto  which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I  begotten thee? and again, I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a  Son? And again, when he bringeth in the first begotten  into the world, he  saith, And let all the angels of God worship him. And of the angels he saith,  who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire, But unto the  Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of  righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. Thou hast loved righteousness, and  hated iniquity, therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of  gladness above thy fellows”.(Hebrews 1:1,2,5-9).
This authority was written about  before the time of Christ in the Psalms: “Thy throne, O God, is for ever and  ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre. Thou lovest righteousness,  and hateth wickedness; therefore god, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil  of gladness above thy fellows. For the word of the Lord is right; and all his  works are done in truth. He loveth righteousness and judgement: the earth is  full of the goodness of the Lord”.(Psalm 45:6,7)….(Psalm 33:4,5).
God in his infinite knowledge  tells of the rule of his Sons kingdom and that he would gather the people to  himself. Jesus is known as the Lion of Judah, and is the authority that would  not depart from Juda (The twelve Tribes of Israel). He is the only one who is  able to open the seven seals in Revelation. “And no man in heaven, nor in earth,  neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon. And  I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book,  neither to look thereon. And one of the elders saith unto me, weep not: behold,  the Lion of Juda, the root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to  loose the seven seals thereof”.(Revelation 5:3-5).
When Balaam decided to turn away  from seeking for an answer as he usually did by enchantments chose to look  toward God in the wilderness and was in a trance and saw a vision of Jesus The  Sceptre. “And when Balaam saw that it pleased the Lord to bless Israel, he went  not, as at other times, to seek for enchantments, but he set his face toward the  wilderness. And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel abiding in his  tents according to their tribes; and the spirit of God came upon him.And now,  behold, I go unto my people: come therefore, and i will advertise thee what this  people shall do to thy people in the latter days.I shall see him, but not now: I  shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a  sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and  destroy all the children of Sheth”.(Numbers  24:1,2,14,17).
