What The Rise Of A Dictator Looks Like: Obama to Dems: I’ll act with or without Congress

Well, when studying history in school, I often wondered what the people saw, what they witnessed in the time prior to WW2. I wondered how could a people allow an evil man to rise to power, how could people turn the other way and turn a blind eye to so much genocide and slaughter. They just went about their way, taking care of their business, not worrying about or concerned about the millions losing their lives at the hand of an evil dictator rising to power to unite Germany and the world to Kill those who believed different. It didn’t happen all at once. Hitler was the poster child of the year. He even made Times magazine cover as the man of the year! The people loved him. Partly because he came in during a time of economic turmoil, people were tired of poverty and war. They were tired of not having jobs. And they wanted better. Well little did I know that in my own lifetime I would witness this first hand. And I would also witness the blind eyes. Bonhoeffer would be livid. Especially given that we had just lived through this, we have it in our History books. We should know the signs and symptoms. Bonhoeffer and others died trying to warn the people of what was happening. Open your eyes.

When I first saw parts of this speech made by obama, the very first thing I thought of was Hitlers speech to the youth. Hitler made many speeches that mirror obama’s speeches.

Obama met with senators from his own party Wednesday at the White House. The White House says Obama and Democrats discussed proposals to raise the minimum wage and efforts to pass a comprehensive immigration overhaul. He has threatened this for some time. He doesn’t have the poll numbers though that he once had, he doesn’t have the world drooling over him like it once did. His media frenzy making him the messiah has dwindled.

What I found even more interesting in learning about the rise of a dictator was that Hitler made the cover of time magazine in 1939, he was the man of the year. Proving the world’s blinders were on just as they are on today.

Bonhoeffer argued that the church had become complacent to man and government, and lost it’s way. He in essence witnessed a falling away from God and a turn to man. He, I believe nailed it. He details this in his book ‘The Cost of Decipleship.’ Just how the church fell away, and how it was lulled to sleep and right into the lair of the beast. And it’s happening again today. Here is an excerpt:

Bonhoeffer argues that as Christianity spread, the Church became more “secularised”, accommodating the demands of obedience to Jesus to the requirements of society. In this way, “the world was Christianised, and grace became its common property.” But the hazard of this was that the gospel was cheapened, and obedience to the living Christ was gradually lost beneath formula and ritual, so that in the end, grace could literally be sold for monetary gain.

Sound familiar? It should because that is exactly what is happening today. It’s time for the Body of Christ to wake up and realize it’s true purpose. I’ll leave you with the most quoted portion of Bonhoeffer’s book.

“cheap grace is the preaching of forgiveness without requiring repentance, baptism without church discipline. Communion without confession. Cheap grace is grace without discipleship, grace without the cross, grace without Jesus Christ.”

Or, even more clearly, it is to hear the gospel preached as follows: “Of course you have sinned, but now everything is forgiven, so you can stay as you are and enjoy the consolations of forgiveness.” The main defect of such a proclamation is that it contains no demand for discipleship. In contrast to this is costly grace:

“costly grace confronts us as a gracious call to follow Jesus, it comes as a word of forgiveness to the broken spirit and the contrite heart. It is costly because it compels a man to submit to the yoke of Christ and follow him; it is grace because Jesus says: “My yoke is easy and my burden is light.” “

Will you heed the warnings of the watchmen today, will you heed the warnings of the watchmen from the past, will you heed the warnings from the watchmen of Prophecy? It’s up to you, but to quote a movie “Choose wisely.”
