I was listening to the news this evening while searching the net.  I heard an announcer from Fox News announce that US officials have targeted an American Citizen for death using a drone attack.  This citizen, they said was working with al-queda and killing other American’s.  And I just stopped dead, my jaw dropped.  Do they not know how this sounds?  Do they not care that they have made themselves judge, jury and executioner.

The Washington Post is reporting that our president is weighing whether to approve a strike against a US citizen ‘accused’ of working with Al-Queda to plot attacks on Americans. They are quoted as reporting:  “The officials said no decision has been reached on whether to add the alleged operative to the administration’s kill list, a step that would require Justice Department approval under new counterterrorism guidelines adopted by President Obama last year.”

So that’s it, we’ll just get them before they get us?   I know this is not new, that they have been doing this for quite some time, these death squads.  I don’t like them and I don’t like this.  Anyone of us could be accused of this, any one of us could be targeted using this type of rhetoric.  What happened in September of 2001 that turned America so dark.  What happened that filled us with fear that we turn a blind eye while the death sentence is carried out.  The schematics of war have changed,  no longer do we fight on a battlefield.  We just take the drones to the air and BAM they are gone.  I have never been a proponent of drone strikes, I am all for any technology that reduces a body count or disabling injuries to our soldiers, but to run off a list from the CIA, or the President?   Have we become so callous that we resemble the ancient Romans watching the gladiators kill each other and cheering them on?  What have we become?  I seem to be asking that a lot lately.
