Parallels Between The Kidnapping Of Schoolgirls In Nigeria & The Abuse Of Women In Syria?

I have been watching a developing story in Nigeria.  The numbers have been from 70 to 200 schoolgirls kidnapped in the north of Borno, from a girls school.  Now Boko Haram is famous for attacking Schools and churches, slaughtering innocents.  They have been blamed for this kidnapping, but Goodluck Jonathon released a statement today that most of the girls had been returned.  The Telegraph is reporting this:

The mass abduction of schoolgirls aged between 15 and 18 has shocked Nigeria and showed how the five-year-old Boko Haram insurgency has brought lawlessness to swathes of the arid, poor northeast, killing hundreds of people in recent months.

It occurred the same day a bomb blast, also blamed on Boko Haram, killed 75 people on the edge of the capital Abuja, stirring fears of violence spreading from the north of Africa’s No. 1 oil producer and most populous nation.

You know, I keep hearing that these things are taking place in ‘the most populous and oil rich regions’  of Africa.  Which again asks questions of why?  I think we know why, what better way to threaten, and intimidate, Africa, and it’s investors than to do these things.  And since there is an election coming up next year, what better way to rid the state of a Christian President?  Boko Haram’s name means ‘Western education is evil.’  And they are fighting to create an all Islamic state, so are they using intimidation, threats, and slaughter as a means to do this?  What better way than to run off the investors, and cause them and international leaders to apply pressure for calm.

The girls thought they were soldiers to protect them.  But they were far from that.  There has been no reports that I can find, that gives the conditions of the girls that were freed, nor has there been exact numbers for those freed.  Now it has also been reported that Boko Haram frequently kidnaps these girls for sex, and in essence slaves. (Read Here)In fact there are heartbreaking stories from Nigeria about this.   Now before you say this is crazy, take a look at this video from Syria, where a Fatwa was issued saying it was ok for the rebels to rape women.  It’s happening like clockwork in the middle east and Africa. Syrian women and children are raped and tortured daily.   As these rebel factions like Al-queda, Boko Haram, and Al-Shabab unite, it will worsen.  You see this is the way they did this in the day’s of Mohammed.

  1. Thank you for a very informative, yet heartbreaking, post. I will pray for these children who are being persecuted by evil disguised as a religion. The silence from the US and other “western” nations is deafening.

I am glad to know the kidnapped school girls are now free – but they probably were still abused in one way or the other. The Muslim Fatwa of raping non-sunni women and children is horrifying, depraved and wicked.
