“We Own Nothing”

A Humbling Experience — God’s Earth

For all mans sets his hand to do, he is rewarded for the labor of his work and this is a gift from God. “There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God”.(Ecclesiastes 2:24).

It is a dual effort on Gods part that he made man and continues with him as he lives out his days upon earth. It has been this way since he created man upon earth as he could of named all the animals he chose to see what Adam would name them. “And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the foul of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him”.(Genesis 2:19,20).

Job’s life show’s us just how everything comes from God as his faith never wavered even with the loss of everything! “Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord. In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly”.(Job 1:20-22).

We may plant upon this earth, but it is God who sends the rain and gives us the increase in the crops. We see this when God chastised Israel and were told to turn back to him. “And also I have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered. So two or three cities wandered unto one city, to drink water; but they were not satisfied: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord”.(Amos 4:7,8).

The Lord God Almighty has made everything for his pleasure, and when we stay obedient we enjoy all the blessings he has……………..”Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created”.(Revelation 4:11). We are told whether we have much or little to be content with what we have, and this keeps one humble to know the earth truly is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof……………………………………….

  1. Ian…………….YES! As seen in Revelation, everyone of us are rich when we seek the kingdom first as many have left their first love which is Christ. The world pulls many into so many things they lose sight of what is truly important which is a clean heart and a right Spirit with God from above. God Bless You.

  2. The blessings is one area where God’s people has been lead down the garden path either intentionally or unintentionally. I doubt there is true follower of the Lord struggles in the area of provision including financially. Like us all here we have seen and continue to see His provision in our lives day after day, more so when we are walking in the valleys.

George Muller in following his calling made what I would call a pact after reading God’s promise to provide in all circumstances that he would tell no one man what his financial needs were. He laid them before the Lord and labored over these needs before the Lord sometimes days and the nights. In all cases his needs were provided, BUT he had to take and action first for this to happen (the faith part).

In doing this for all my needs even food to eat I seen the Lord move and provide and always given Him the glory. In revelations 2 verse 9 where he was addressing the church of Smyra he had John write; “I know thy works, and tribulation and poverty ( but thou art rich), so it is about being content and thankful for what we have in the now and walk that way giving the glory to God.

I believe in my heart if I am about my Father’s business and the earthly wealth increases I will be at that place where I will pour it back into the work our Father has us doing because our Heart will set on Him. We will have the realization we are pilgrims just passing though and all that is given to us is to be used to further his kingdom and not store up the earthly treasures here on earth.

In essence it is where we have renewed our minds to we are at this place in the Lord and He increases the riches available to our hands because he knows our heart.

Yes I am aware there are many preachers who have become rich financially but they are robbing their followers to gain them and their followers are blind and both of them will eventually fall into a ditch.

Great post Hayden – thank you.

    • Amen! I have found this to be true in my own life recently. I will post a personal testimony soon. When we actually give our needs to God and trust in Him, that is when He truly blesses us. He is capable of caring and providing for His children. Paul tells us in Phillipians: And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. 20Now to our God and Father be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

  4. Yes! Truly we own nothing! We are instructed by our LORD+ to seek FIRST the Kingdom of GOD, and HIS Righteousness, and HE will add the necessities of life to us. This goes totally against what many of us have been raised with. Acquiring many material things becomes priority and all effort and plans go toward that end. It usually ends in emptiness and great fatigue. JESUS taught us the opposite. Seek the Kingdom of GOD first, and HE will provide the necessities of food and clothing. What radical teaching to a materialistic, self-serving society !The Apostles teach us to be content with food and clothing and not to seek after wealth and great advancement, which many, having done so, have made shipwreck in the faith. Spiritual fatigue and “lukewarmness” set in and that is a very dangerous situation according to Revelation 3:16.

JESUS says that a man cannot, is not able, to serve two masters. If one trys to do that anyway, he will end up loving one of the masters and hating the other one. The acquiring of overmuch material goods is very deadening spiritually, and the “adversary” of our soul will make sure to take every opportunity to drag our focus and attention away from being “bearers of fruit” for GOD our FATHER, and bring us down into despair and being disillusioned “servants of mammon”. Beware of the trap! Don’t take the bait! It is written that our LORD+ will never leave nor forsake us. It is the FATHER’S good pleasure to give us the Kingdom. As long as we choose to stay with HIM+, HE+ will most assuredly stay with us.
In these very trying times, being with HIM+ is everything. This is the True riches. Tomorrow is not promised for anyone. To be content in HIS+ presence today is real prosperity. If riches should increase, do not set your heart on them. They are DUST.
Peace+ to the Brothers and Sisters in the Beloved. + + +
