“No Special Attire”

hi

It takes no special clothes to serve God, and we are warnd of this way of thinking by the way Jesus taught of the scribes who wore long robes and made long prayers. “Then in the audience of all the people he said unto his disciples, Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markt, and th highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts; Which devour wodows’ houses, and for a shew make long prayers: the same shall rceive grater damnation”.(Luke 20:45-47).

When we look at different religions today this mindset is still in place as we see special attire for pastors and the disciples who served Christ wore nothing to set them apart while preaching the word. When Jesus asked Peter who is the multitudes saying that he is? he answered by the Holy Spirit which Jesus said flesh and blood did not reveal the truth to him that he was the Christ and the Son of the living God! And this is the first time Jesus tells of a person being a Rock of which his church would be built upon and the gates of hell would not prevail against it. No certain clothing was offered for such a great service Peter was called to. (Matthew 16:15-19)…….(1 Peter 2:5-10).

Gods people do not stand out by what they wear, but by the conversation in which they speak as it is the hidden man of the heart God is intrested in for his service and does not look on the outward appearance. We see that the conversation of a wife coupled with the fear of God is able to help her husband believe. “Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear. Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price”.(1 Peter 3:1-4). (1 Samuel 16:7).

  2. Ian………YES! Gods choice of servants are in the lowliest of apparel as I have seen the poor of the earth at times being the richest in the faith of our Father. God Bless You.

  4. Good blog. Our power must not come through fancy clothes or excellent speech, but in demonstration of God’s Holy Ghost strength. Pastors or Priests were never meant to be adorned like kings of the earth.
